WHY HORSES?
ABOUT HORSES
Horses are large and powerful animals that inspire our presence and attention.
In a horse’s world, teamwork is expected and respected.
To survive in the wild, as prey animals, horses must work together. Horses look out for the safety and wellbeing of the herd and all its members.
Horses are very social, sensitive and keenly aware of their surroundings.
Horses are quick to react. They look out for threatening body posture. Horses have the ability to recognize the difference between a calm, non-threatening approach and nervous or anxious energy.
To feel safe, horses look for and appreciate strong leadership.
Horses are willing to follow only after they find confidence, respect and trust. To feel safe and comfortable, horses require clear communication, healthy boundaries and strong leadership.
Horses live in the present moment, and always respond honestly.
Horses don’t judge, and they can’t overthink. They appreciate clear boundaries and rules, and want to feel safe and connected. Horses tend to be kind and forgiving.
Horses have easy to read body language that we can learn from.
By their intuitive nature, horses can provide insight into an individual’s personality and energy. Skilled facilitators can use the horse’s honest reactions to guide participants to become better people. Horses reward our improvements with their immediate, positive feedback.
